At the Donaldson farm the first peonies were planted by Mary Ellen Donaldson when she came to live on the Cedar Hill Farm in 1900. The same beautiful white peonies can now be found throughout the various perennial gardens created by her grandson David.
There are a variety of perennials such as lupins, delphiniums, phlox, bees balm, perennial sweet peas, heliopsis, violas, malva, obedient plant, etc. Annuals such as gladiolas (thousands of bulbs are planted each spring), sunflowers, geraniums, cosmos, etc. There are also a variety of vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, carrots, zucchini and dill. Early spring has daffodils and tulips.
The gardens are now tended by the fourth generation, Christopher and his wife Sarah who live on the century farm located at 479 Cedar Hill Road, Pakenham.
